What do we know about discrimination against people living with HIV / AIDS in Ukraine and in the world? Journalists who have something to say took part in the special materials contest. The common theme was “Stigma and discrimination against HIV status in Ukraine”.
The contest was held within the framework of the POSITIVE LIVE project supported by the Democracy Grants Program of the U.S. Embassy to Ukraine. Every year on the HIV / AIDS Day, we arrange an exhibition of contemporary B Positive art and a fair of organizations to remind of those who live with a difficult diagnosis in a social isolation.
This year, Smart Heart with Art and Trans-Atlantic Medical Relief Foundation, Inc. have also announced a competition for journalists. And all participants were invited to submit their materials that raise the issue of HIV / AIDS. As a result, the jury chose three winners:
1st place – Tamara Balayev’s work “HIV Life. In life under the boom, illness and love that wins the disease.”
2nd place – Alexander Chernov’s work “What do HIV-positive children live?”.
3 place – joint work of Alexander Galyass and Inna Ishchuk “HIV – no verdict”.
In Ukraine, it is very little said about the HIV / AIDS problem, and in addition there are not enough professional materials, plots and investigations on such topic. The POSITIVE LIVE project tells the real stories of people living with HIV. Thanks to all the journalists who took part in the contest and congratulations to the winners!
