Competition for Ukrainian journalists to create materials on the topic “Stigma and discrimination on HIV status in Ukraine” is Now Opened

The non-governmental organization Small Heart with Art, within the framework of the POSITIVE LIFE project, that is realized with the support of the Democracy Assistance Fund of the US Embassy in Ukraine, with the support of the Trans-Atlantic Medical Relief Foundation, Inc, announces an open competition for Ukrainian journalists to create materials on the topic “Stigma and discrimination of HIV status in Ukraine.”

A contestant can be either an individual journalist or the media.

Winners of the competition will receive a reward:

1st place – 5 000 hryvnas

2nd place – 3 000 hryvnas

3rd place – 2 000 hryvnas

Ready materials for participation in the competition are accepted via e-mail info@smallheartwithart.org until February 22, 2018.

The selection of participants will be carried out by the competitive commission.

Who can apply?
Journalists of TV, radio, print newspapers, media platforms or on-line resources, bloggers.

Topics:

• The life of people with HIV;
• First-person stories: life after confirming the diagnosis of HIV / AIDS;
• Attitude and perception in society of people with positive HIV status;
• Specific problems of children and adolescents arising in groups after disclosure of status;
• The problem of self-stigmatization of people living with HIV;
• Ways and means of overcoming stigma and discrimination towards people with HIV positive status.

Requirements:

• The material should be clearly stated, consistent, match with the theme of the competition;
• Contestants must keep up with all the journalistic standards (reliability, balance, isolation of facts from the opinions and ratings of the author, accuracy and completeness of information);
• The big advantage will be the use of multimedia tools: photos, videos, infographics or long reads;
• Materials are accepted in Ukrainian or Russian.

2. Brief information about yourself in any form.

Deadline: Thursday, February 22, 18:00

Results will be announced on February 23, 2018 on Small Heart with Art Facebook Page.
