This is a story of a New Year’s miracle: when a literary reading teacher somehow decided to surprise children at the hospital. He has written to several schools in Ukraine and other teachers have responded to his call to action. The students from the whole Ukraine decided to write letters to our superheroes and wrote warm letters, made funny wishes and mailed them. And then …
Then we received 6 parcels, a parcel post and over 100 envelopes, from which splashed and flew glitter, sketched Christmas trees and fairies, poems and wishes. The idea of simple correspondence turned into an all-Ukrainian flash mob. Our totes received Christmas messages from all over the country.
“I do not know who reads my letter – boy or girl, what age you are, where you live and whether your family is large or small? It does not matter. After all, I am writing to greet you – as important holidays are ahead. Think of your most cherished desire and it will come true. I will dream of that too. I wish you good health and a quick return to your home. You are strong and you can handle it. Next to you are your dearest people, and also the Your angel, he will help you. Yours sincerely, Sashko, 8 years old. ”
Within a week, waves of envelopes rumbled in our class. And five branches of OKHMATDYT received their New Year’s messages. We decided we would answer each one, though judging by the volume, it would take us more than a month to create cool responses to all the greeting cards.
We thank Volodymyr Alieksieiev for his impulse for this miracle and our wonderful helpers from Miss Ukraine who helped unpack all the letters. And when was the last time you wrote a letter?
