Pro Bono Hackathon – is an event that everyone has been waiting for
On October 19, the Pro Bono Hackathon Platform hosted a long-awaited event for everyone who cares about education for children in inpatient care in medical institutions.
This problem is extremely crucial both for the children being treated and for their families. At the same time, this issue gets little exposure, and therefore it is not easy to find solutions.
The problem is that when children are hospitalized, they lose touch with schools at their place of residence. Consequently, they completely drop out of the educational process and social life. It negatively affects children’s psychological and emotional state and their ability to overcome the disease.
So, the Pro Bono Hackathon brought together experts to identify priorities, gather ideas and outline ways to address the educational challenges of children in inpatient care.
Here’s our Hackathon’s agenda:
• simplifying the mechanism of enrollment of a child in a hospital school for the period of treatment;
• crediting the results of the child’s hospital education upon return to a regular school;
• state guarantee of this process (both financial and expert). For now, the education of children in hospitals falls on the public organization @smallheartwithart.
It is impossible to resolve these issues at once, but we are ready to continue working, involving both like-minded people and government agencies to move on, draft and adopt the necessary documents.
Thank you for your cooperation and support of the Pro Bono platform, the Right to Education project and its curator Natalia Moseychuk!
