The Superheroes School network is growing – there are already 5 classes in Lviv!

29.02.24

The fifth classroom of the Superheroes School has opened at Saint Nicholas Hospital in Lviv, in the oncohematology department – a separate space has been set up for children with oncological conditions who are not permitted to come into contact with other patients..

«Another classroom has been opened specifically for the young patients of the oncohematology department at the children’s Saint Nicholas Hospital. The children there, due to the treatment process, cannot spend time outside the department or study in the other classrooms of our Superheroes School alongside other children. Now they have their own educational space, which means they will continue to learn and, through lessons, take their minds off the difficult treatment process. The classroom is equipped with everything required by the school’s standards – ergonomic furniture, a board, devices, books», — emphasised Andrii Tyshchenko, Head of the educational space of the state institution “Superheroes School” in Lviv

In order to make learning comfortable and convenient for the little ones in this classroom, 1+1 media helped raise UAH 522 904,93 through a series of charitable activities:

  • on 6 December 2023, on Saint Nicholas Day, the prime-time slot – the first advertising block from 19:00 to 20:00 on 1+1 Ukraine – became a charitable one;
  • employees of 1+1 media, together with top managers, made their own donations via Monobank throughout December;
  • as part of the project “Christmas. You Are Not Alone”, broadcast on Christmas Eve, 24 December 2023, on the television channels 1+1 Ukraine, TET and the film and television platform Kyivstar TV, a themed fundraiser was held for the superheroes.

«Today’s classroom is a miracle in every sense. First, the funds were received from the advertising block during prime time on 1+1 Ukraine on Saint Nicholas Day. Second, they are maximally ‘of the people’. Because they were raised during the broadcast of the project ‘Christmas. You Are Not Alone’. Amazing people, who fight, bleed and care for their children – you are undefeatable!” noted Nataliia Moseichuk. “This classroom differs from others in that each ward has a separate entrance to the premises, so that the children do not cross paths with one another, do not interact with each other. This is very important for them. Here, the doctor grants permission to work with each individual child. If the leukocyte count allows, he tells the teacher to begin a lesson with a specific child. What else makes this space important – the children here stay for much longer, for months at a time. Therefore, it is essential that they feel adapted and socially active. We are fighting to ensure that children do not lose their lives while they are overcoming cancer».

Natalia Moseichuk, curator and Chair of the Supervisory Board of the state institution “Superheroes School”, presenter of 1+1 Marafon and TSN, and interviewer, attended the official opening. Also joining the event were:

Lviv City Mayor Andrii Sadovyi;

Olena Nykonchuk, Head of the Medical Science Sector of the Department of Medical Personnel, Education and Science of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine;

Oleh Samchuk, Director General of the First Medical Association of Lviv;

and Myroslava Stepaniuk, Director of the NRC “Levenia”.

The creation of an educational space is always an exciting process, as a team of builders must bring the designers’ visualisation to life. This is how the fifth classroom at Saint Nicholas Hospital in Lviv was envisioned by the talented designers of the design bureau DVOETOCHIE:

In order to bring the visualisation to life and give the little ones a bright, learning-inspiring space, the UAH 522 904,93 raised with the support of 1+1 was spent as follows: almost UAH 240 000,00 was directed towards renovation works in the premises; a further UAH 201 000,00 was spent on the manufacture, delivery and installation of special furniture; UAH 35 500,00 – on a video surveillance system and its installation; calculated over 12 months – a further almost UAH 35 000,00 was spent on the purchase of school supplies and stationery; didactic materials accounted for over UAH 7 000,00; the remainder covered the cost of a special bactericidal irradiator required for the premises, and other expenses.

This is what the classroom looks like – the photos were taken in the morning before the little ones came running in for their lessons 😍
